Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of the Spiritual Alien Podcast.
Happy Winter Solstice, Merry Yuletide, Saturnalia and so on to all of you in the northern hemisphere and Happy Summer Solstice to those of you in the southern hemisphere! I hope you have a wonderful time with all those you love, and may love, peace and prosperity always be present in your home.
So, to continue this series to help you Get Your Shit Together, this episode is about 20 resolution ideas in case you don’t know what to do with yourself at the end of the year which is in approximately 10 to 9 days. So without further ado, let’s get started.
As I mentioned in the previous episodes, at the end of every year, most of us make resolutions, write down goals and make a list of the things we wish to achieve when the New Year ends. Some of us have a clue on what we want to do and others don’t.
So, what resolutions can you set for 2020?
One, getting better sleep.
Let’s face it, a majority of us — myself included — do not get the appropriate amount of sleep and it’s about damn time that we get our shit together, so if you’re struggling with sleep, there are solutions and it’s time you look into them.
Two, drink more water.
Set a reminder on your phone so the alarm goes off every couple of hours as a self check-in to help you keep track of the amount of water you are drinking for the day.
Three, change your diet.
Whether you are a vegan turning omnivore or omnivore turning vegan, or any other diet in between, whether for health reasons, the animals and the environment, or all the above, make sure you are making an informed decision, that you have a nutritionist to guide you along the way and hold you accountable, and take the leap once and for all.
Four, get into fitness.
Whether you want to lose or gain weight, get fit and stronger, and push your body to its limit, it’s never too late to get into fitness. And these days? You don’t have to go to a gym, you can work out directly from your home with free online classes or paid classes that you can do at your pace. The bad news? Prepare to die. The good news? You don’t have to socialize!
Five, connect with nature.
We are surrounded by technology most of the time, whether at work or at home, so by connecting with nature, you will be able to ground your energy, center yourself and come back to the present moment. Technology makes me super spacey, so going out into nature helps me to come back to center.
Six, change your personal style.
Sometimes we feel blah, unmotivated and uninspired with ourselves. This may be a sign that a change in your personal style, or a change of look is in store for you. Let this be the start of a decade where you are not afraid to try out something new on yourself and for yourself.
Seven, buy eco-clothing.
Alright, eco-clothing can be expensive, whether they are made of bamboo — which tends to be cheaper — or of organic cotton, not all of us have $60 dollars to spend on one shirt, so for this you may want to look into second-hand clothing stores. This way you are recycling by reusing the clothes that somebody else once did and you are not supporting the larger corporations mass-producing clothes and exploiting employees for a very small wage or no wage at all.
Eight, become a minimalist.
You don’t need 300 pieces of clothing, you don’t need 100 pairs of shoes, and you sure as hell don’t need 20 tops in the same color, unless it’s a uniform and even then that is very excessive. I’m not telling you to burn down your home and live naked, but to keep only what makes you happy and only what is necessary to have. So if you don’t use something and it’s taking up space, get fucking rid of it.
Nine, learn a new skill.
From learning how to make the perfect hot chocolate to learning how to suck a peen to learning a new language, the internet is abundant with knowledge, trainings, lessons and classes — both free and paid — for you to learn anything and everything that you desire. I was shook when I found out there were online trainings on how to suck dick, so yes, the possibilities are endless my love. It is my intention to learn a third language in 2020 but for now I am undecided between 3 languages. They are driving me crazy, so they can lutsch meinen Schwanz!! My German listeners will kill me for destroying their language.
Ten, start a bullet journal.
A bullet journal will help you stay organized with daily, weekly or monthly tasks, it will help you have an overall look on what you have to do, what is and isn’t a priority and so on. I know, I know you can do all this shit on a fancy app on your smartphone but I don’t care. Let your eyes breathe by focusing them on a piece of paper rather than a screen.
Eleven, practice meditation.
Meditation has helped me with anxiety and facing problems without as much overwhelm or negativity in me, meditation has also helped me to be more aware of myself and my surroundings which in turn has helped me to feel more connected with everything around me, there are so many benefits that I can’t list them all, but I am sure that if you sit down and think on this one, you will come up with your own ways of how meditation will or has benefited you.
Twelve, stop self-destructive habits.
Whether you binge eat or drink, smoke a lot, self-harm, have suicidal thoughts more often than normal, it’s time to put a stop to this madness. You matter, you are worthy, you are deserving and you don’t have to continue to do this to yourself, but you have to take a step forth and speak up so that people know how to help you. You aren’t alone, that’s what your mind wants you to think so you continue to isolate yourself. You have more allies than you realize, including me. I say this because I have been there myself and because I know this will resonate with at least one of you tuning in to my podcast.
Thirteen, mindset work.
The mind is a powerful thing that can either build you up or destroy you. It is not a pretty place to be in when someone is anxious, depressed or is feeling suicidal. It can be hard to change the mind when verbally, emotionally and mentally abusing yourself is so easy and the norm. It’s hard to say that you love yourself, but so easy to say that you hate yourself. Stop yourself when this arises. Let 2020 be the year where you become aware of your own mind games so that you can learn to shift them into something that is of your benefit. Control your mind or it will control you.
Fourteen, set healthy boundaries.
From the annoying colleague who is always complaining and draining everyone’s energy to the abusive neighbor who keeps letting his dog shit in your yard to your narcissistic family member who continues to do shit to you only to later deny it, it’s time to bring everything to a stop. It’s time to be vocal and loud, let yourself be heard and respected. So what if family and friends leave you? They were not your family or friends anyways!
Fifteen, save money.
Alright here’s a hard one. We need money to survive and pay for everything. But if you can spend money everyday on Starbucks when you’re at work or on GrubHub when you get home, you can most definitely save all that money towards something more beneficial to you. Do you see where I am going with this? It’s all about prioritizing.
Sixteen, conscious buying.
Related to the previous one, be aware of what you buy and whether you really need it or not, this will help you cut down on costs.
Seventeen, plan a trip.
Kind of related to the previous two, you can save up money by prioritizing things and being conscious of what you buy so that you can go on that trip you’ve always wanted to go, whether alone or with family or friends. It also helps to have something to look forward to at some point in the year, if you are able to take the leap and do this.
Eighteen, start a side business.
I am sure you are good at more than one thing. So you can turn this thing or things into a side business where you can make some extra money from. So what if a million other people do the same thing that you do? But nobody can offer it like you can. In the long run, you never know, you might be able to even make the switch and work full-time in your own business.
Nineteen, art therapy.
You don’t have to be Bob Ross in order to make art. Art is a good outlet to relax, be in the moment and express your emotions when words fail, so whether you are happy, angry, sad and so on, art is a powerful way to speak when the tongue fails to do so. It’s also just fun to do, so many possibilities to do art in so many forms that you’ll be busy being entertained instead of blankly scrolling Facebook for 2 hours, don’t you think?
Twenty, write that damned book!
This is the sign you have been waiting for. Write that book and make it happen already! If not now, when? If it’s not you, it will be somebody else. This final resolution idea is self-explanatory, so all I’m going to say is take the leap and make some waves!
