SPIRIT OF LOVE
BRAND IDENTITY | WEB DESIGN
Overview: The Spirit of Love was a business idea for an online shop from a small business owner that wanted to sell silver pendants with a spiritual meaning adorned and accompanied by silver necklaces. Based on a real client with a real business idea, she was trying to DIY her website to launch her online shop, but she approached me to give her advice and assist her along the way.
The Problem: After consultation, it was discovered that she had limited technical skills in some areas, lack of knowledge in others. She wanted a website so as to not fully rely on social media for inquiries, so she needed a website built from scratch along with web design. She also needed domain name integration, and a brand identity along with logo designs in order to have a cohesive website, look, and overall brand message. She had limited options using the website builder Wix and was open to changing web hosts.
Responsibilities: Brainstorming, conceptualize visuals, present ideas, identifying target audience, goal identification, migrated content from Wix into WordPress, design website, branding, and visual identity.
Duration: 6 months
Goals: Jennifer’s first goal as a small business owner was to have a strong and cohesive online presence that others could instantly understand. Her second goal was to have a professionally made website that she could confidently share with her family, friends, and coworkers for them to view and purchase her products with ease. Her third goal was to be able to have control of her website and be able to make changes on her own, without having to dive into coding. The User End Experience goal was to have a responsive website that could be accessed from other devices such as smartphones and tablets, with minimal design and clear features so that visitors could quickly find what they were searching for.
Final Notes: Once we were done with the website building, designing, and the migration of content, despite attempting to teach her how to use her new WordPress website through video tutorials, she wanted to switch back to Wix at the final stage of the website creation. So I migrated all of her old and new content from WordPress back to Wix. Finally, once settled, she started to fill up the pages of her website with the assigned content for each segment, and I completed my role as a designer.
FIGMA PROTOTYPE
I wanted to do a brief simulation of the mobile version of the website and how I visualized it looking like in 2023 by creating some high fidelity wireframes. I did this in 2 weeks to learn the basics of Figma. I skipped creating low fidelity wireframes so that I could put my full attention on figuring out how the software worked, a mistake I did not realize I was doing as high fidelity wireframes can actually take more time to do.
Here is my first prototype using Figma.
